Joey Tranchina’s forgotten archive for more than 50 years: “Sixties in Los Angeles by Joey Tranchina”

In Joey Tranchina’s words; this work is not nostalgia, it’s a portal to people’s lives.

Joey Tranchina shot LA when he was dating a bartender at the Troubadour, where he got to meet and photograph many rock stars, artists, and poets of the time.

Besides iconic LA photographs, Tranchina has a very important archive of Beat Generation poets, buried since the 70s—an archive soon to be published by Steidl, which includes portraits of William Burroughs, Margaret Atwood, Allen Ginsberg, and many more.
